Why Volunteer?

Key reasons to volunteer

Anyone can volunteer and it can be a very rewarding experience. Not only do you get to meet all sorts of different people, work in an excellent environment and learn valuable skills, but you also have the satisfaction of knowing that, by giving your time, you are helping a very good cause to raise money and making a difference to people’s lives.

What are the benefits for you?

(1) Meet interesting people and become a valued team member (2) Learn and develop new skills such as customer service, communication, networking, teamwork and taking responsibility for your actions (3) You won’t be left out of pocket as you will be reimbursed for your actual expenses
(4) Choose to share an existing skill or develop a new one (5) Possibility of obtaining formal qualifications, such as NVQs in retailing (6) Choose to work in one of our 16 shops or at the Hospice in Windsor and Ascot
(7) Making a difference to Thames Hospicecare and enjoying yourself at the same time (8) On-the-job training and support will be given to you (9) Volunteering will not affect Job Seeker’s Allowance as long as a person is still ‘actively seeking and available for work’
(10) Volunteering will not affect someone’s Income Support as long as they only receive reimbursement expenses (11) If you receive Incapacity Benefit you may volunteer for as many hours as you wish (12) Volunteering will not affect whether a person receives Disability Living Allowance or not
